ABOUT THE SONG
COME OUT LAZARUS! is the powerful new single from Dove Award-winning worship artist and songwriter Stephen McWhirter — the man behind the global anthem "Come Jesus Come" (100M+ streams, 2026 Grammy Award winning song).
Born out of Stephen's own testimony of being called out of over 11 years from crystal meth addiction, COME OUT LAZARUS! is a bold declaration that resurrection power is real. As Jesus called his friend Lazarus out of the tomb over 2000 years ago, so he is still calling people from death to live, today.
This song is for everyone who has ever felt like they were too far gone. For everyone in the grip of addiction. For everyone sitting in a darkness they don't know how to escape. For everyone who needs to hear Jesus calling them by name to Come out, and live again.
STEPHEN TELLS THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
I know what it feels like to be called out of the tomb, like Lazarus.
Growing up the son of a traveling evangelist, I watched my father preach behind pulpits but behind closed doors I witnessed him physically and violently abuse my mother throughout my childhood. Disillusioned and wounded, I ran hard into darkness — spending over 11 years in drug addiction, including many years on crystal meth.
I was the last person anyone expected would come to Jesus. But one night at 3am, with drugs on the table beside me, I knew He was there and calling me by name from my tomb. That night, in that room, I gave my life to Him. I quit everything. By the power of the same Jesus who called Lazarus from the grave.
This story is my ministry. Through my music, live worship streams, my book Radically Restored, traveling and sharing my testimony and leading worship — I have seen over 40,000 people give their lives to Jesus. I am living proof that He is still calling into tombs to come out and live again.

COME OUT LAZARUS! Official Lyrics
Written by Paul Duncan, Kirby Kaple, Stephen McWhirter, Colby Wedgeworth
I am weeping
I am missing You my friend
Wanna see Your face again
You’re only sleeping
And soon the world will understand
Exactly who I am
Come out come out come out Lazarus
Listen to the sound of my voice and live again
Come out come out come out Lazarus
I’m telling you this doesn’t have to be the end
Come out and live again
Do not fear
Go ahead and take my hand
This is where it all begins
The kingdom’s here
This is all part of the plan
And I’m the only one who can say…
Come out come out come out Lazarus
Listen to the sound of my voice and live again
Come out come out come out Lazarus
I’m telling you this doesn’t have to be the end
Come out and live again
You don’t know what I’m about to do
I’m gonna raise myself like I’m raising you
My mighty resurrection power
Is showing up this very hour
There will be a death and there will be a tomb
But after that there’ll be an Upper Room
When my spirit falls everything will change
And it all starts here today
Come out come out come out Lazarus
Listen to the sound of my voice and live again
Come out come out come out Lazarus
I’m telling you this doesn’t have to be the end
Come out and live again
I’m telling you this doesn’t have to be the end
Come out and live again
Come out and live again
