WORSHIPPING JESUS + LEADING OTHERS TO HIM

GOD’S UNIQUE PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE:

5 VIDEO DEVOTIONAL SERIES

God has a purpose for your life. It is the true fulfillment of your calling and deepest kingdom desires. However, only He can lead you into it. This 5 video devotional series is meant to help you begin to see God’s unique calling for you, how to hear His voice, and to trust His timing and ways.

PART 1 - INTRODUCTION

PART 2 - CALLING

We all have a calling. First and foremost, it’s to be sons and daughters of God. We also have very unique kingdom destinies. Often, if we look back over our lives we can see glimpses of our purpose in an overarching desire we’ve always had. Ultimately, at its purest, this longing is from the Lord. Now, desires can be tricky, because in a fallen world we can try to fulfill them in broken ways, not knowing God’s original specific desires for our lives. We have to allow Him to show us the reoccurring theme that has consistently been there throughout our stories. Maybe you’ve decided you can’t have it, or because you have a distorted view of what it truly is, you believe it will only hurt you. Remember at its core it is a desire placed in you from the Lord, meant to bring Him glory and lead you into your original unique kingdom calling!

QUESTIONS:

You can use a journal to answer the following questions or download the pdf for this series here

1. What is the consistent desire that keeps popping up in your life?

2. Ask the Lord to show you how maybe that desire has been distorted, and for a glimpse of what it’s really meant to be.

SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 139:13-16

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Romans 8:28-30

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

PART 3 - TIMING

God has the right timing for everything. I have found that a lot of life is just learning not to be offended by His timing. When He makes a promise regarding our calling He is faithful to keep His word, but will we wait well or act when He says, “the time is right”? In Abraham’s nineties God reminded him that He would keep His promise by Sarah giving birth to a son, Isaac. To Abraham, as time went on, it seemed God wasn’t keeping His word, so he tried to make God’s promise happen by human efforts. He had a child, Ishmal with their slave, Hagar. The linage of Ishmal went on to be a great thorn in the side of Israel. We must wait on the promise and be ready to step out in faith when the time is right. Be careful of trying to make it happen by human efforts, out of a place of good intentions, but not a place of faith. Otherwise, you will birth Ishmael, when you’re meant to wait on the promise of Isaac. Trust God’s right timing!

QUESTIONS:

You can use a journal to answer the following questions or download the pdf for this series here

1. Has God made a promise in your life that you are still waiting on, and you are struggling to not be offended by His timing? If the answer is yes, write down how you’ve struggled and then ask the Holy Spirit to give you the patience to wait well and the faith to trust His timing.

2. Do you believe God has opened a door that leads towards fulfillment of His promise, and the right time is now, but you afraid to walk through it? Ask the Holy Spirit to well up in you with the courage and faith to step through the door He has opened.

SCRIPTURE:

1 Samuel 16:11, 13 (David’s purpose was promised by God to him at a very young age)

Samuel asked Jesse, "Are these all the sons you have?" "There is still the youngest," Jesse… Then the Lord said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one." So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power.

2 Samuel 5:4 (David had to wait many years for the fulfillment of God’s promise)

David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.

John 7:8

You go to the Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast, because for me the right time has not yet come."

Galatians 4:4-5

But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law so that he could adopt us as his very own children.

Galatians 4:22-23

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary way; but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a promise.

PART 4 - HEARING

How can we know God’s calling for our lives and His timing, if we can’t hear or recognize His voice? The thing about really knowing the sound of someone’s voice is simply knowing them. I recognize my wife’s voice if she just clears her throat because I have spent so much time with her. The same example applies to our relationship with God. The more time I spend with Him. the better I will recognize His voice. The more I soak in His word, the more familiar I am with Who He is. If I spend more time with God than anyone else, all he has to do is breathe in a room of ten thousand and I’ll know it’s Him.

QUESTIONS:

You can use a journal to answer the following questions or download the pdf for this series here

1. Do you struggle to hear God’s voice? Do you have trouble knowing the difference between your thoughts and His? The question is how much time do you spend with Him? If the answer is very little, ask the Holy Spirit to well up in you a desire to spend time with Him more than do anything else.

2. Right now, simply ask the Lord to speak to you and set and listen. Right down what He tells you.

SCRIPTURE:

John 10:1-5

I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice.

John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you

John 16:7

But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

PART 5 - GOD’S WAYS

Just like God’s timing, we can also be offended by His ways, because they’re just not our ways. He hardly ever does something the way we would, so we have trust and follow Him, even when it means we may look crazy to others. Often the best fruit is the furthest out on the limb. Remember God wants to lead you into His purpose for your life, so trust his timing, listen to the leading of His voice as you spend your life knowing Him better. Ultimately, there will be times where His ways offend you, because they are higher than ours. You have never been where He is taking you, so follow closely, no matter how scary it gets. His ways are not just higher they are way better!

QUESTIONS:

You can use a journal to answer the following questions or download the pdf for this series here

1. Is there a time when God’s ways ended up not aligning with your expectations? You thought He was going to do one thing, but He did something totally different. Perhaps, you were confused and offended, because you couldn’t see what He sees?

2. Presently, is there something God is calling you to that feels scary, or crazy to logic of the world?

3. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the courage to trust God’s Ways over your own fears, so that you will follow wherever He leads, because the path towards His unique purpose for your is way you’ve never been before.

SCRIPTURE:

Exodus 17:6

I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Numbers 20:8, 12

The Lord told them “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink”… But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them."

Joshua 3:3-4

Giving orders to the people: "When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, who are Levites, carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.

Isaiah 55:9

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
